Year 3 marks the children’s important transition from KS1 to KS2. In Year 3, children will develop the confidence needed to face new and exciting challenges. Over the year, the children are taught the skills to encourage them to become more independent whilst enjoying a wide range of learning experiences.
Along with greater challenges, we aim to keep learning fun and stimulating. Where possible lessons are topic based; this allows us to deepen our subject knowledge and make our learning more purposeful. Some topics in Year 3 include; plants and animals in Science; planning and making our own healthy snacks in Design and Technology and exploring the Stone Age in History.
In English, we cover a wide range of units, some of which include; adventure stories, non-chorological reports and balanced arguments. We continue to read daily in guided reading sessions and enjoy exploring more sophisticated texts.
Within maths lessons, we apply the number facts we have learnt in KS1 whilst learning new written methods of calculation.
Throughout the year we will become experts in Scratch and Microsoft Office as we enjoy learning new technology skills. We will also continue to use a wide range of apps across the curriculum to support our learning.
